History of the Hispanic Club of Lakeland
The beginning of the Club can be traced to the year 1987 when several Puerto Rican families got together and decided to meet and form a group to foster the unity among families from several Latin American countries. As the group grew it was prudent to create a constitution and by-laws, and a Board of Directors was formed in 1988. A “flamboyant” tree and the colors orange and green were chosen for the original logo. The club now has over 350 members with a varied representation from many Latin countries. A new logo was adopted in 2009 using as inspiration the actual logo of the City of Lakeland, thus, we have a “swan” or “cisne” now.
Board members are elected for a term of two (2) years. The officers and members of the board are all volunteers. The officers elected in 2012 are listed as follows:

Historia del Club Hispano de Lakeland
Los inicios del club se remontan al año 1987 cuando varias familias puertorriqueñas acordaron reunirse para compartir sus vivencias con otras familias latinas. A medida que el grupo creció, se consideró prudente formar una asociación y elegir su comitiva.
Hoy en día, el club consta de cerca de 300 miembros procedentes de de las diferentes nacionalidades latinoamericanas. Directiva del Club Los miembros de la directiva son elegidos por un período de 2 años, quienes, al igual que los oficiales, son voluntarios. La directiva del 2012 está formada por: |
